Kana Komatsu

Bio

Kana Komatsu is a seasoned coach, HR and organizational development professional, and well-being facilitator with over 20 years of cross-industry experience spanning global corporations, startups, and creative sectors. Her career is defined by a unique blend of strategic HR leadership and deep human-centered engagement, shaped by a foundation in both business and the arts.

Beginning her career in the music and media industry, Kana transitioned into corporate HR roles at major firms including Goldman Sachs, Barclays Capital, and Volvo Group, where she drove talent development, leadership programs, and large-scale organizational change. She played pivotal roles in APAC expansion and integration efforts, notably at Medidata Solutions and ZeniMax Asia (a Microsoft/Xbox group company), where she led Japan HR through times of high uncertainty such as COVID-19 and M&A transitions.

Since 2017, Kana has worked independently as an executive and life coach, HR advisor, and well-being facilitator. Her current work focuses on supporting individuals and leaders to grow with clarity and authenticity, fostering well-being and human potential in both personal and organizational contexts. She also supports inbound entrepreneurs navigating business in Japan.

Kana is known for her deep listening, cultural fluency, and ability to navigate complexity with grounded empathy and strategic clarity. Her academic background in entertainment business (M.A., NYU, Fulbright Scholar) and English linguistics, paired with certifications in coaching, mental health, and yoga, reflect her lifelong commitment to holistic development—of people, teams, and systems.
